What Does God Require Of US?!

Notes
From a Biblical perspective, when we view what’s being taught in many of the local assemblies, you’d have to come to the conclusion that it’s a small part of the Gospel (good news). Sunday after Sunday, religious network after network, we hear only one side of the true Gospel … and that’s “What God wants to do for YOU!” Very seldom, do we hear, “What God requires of US!” Here’s a short list of things that God requires of His followers: 1. An Attitude of Gratitude (Thankfulness) Jesus said in Matthew 7:9-11, “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people…

HAVING APOSTLE PAUL’S COMPASSION FOR THE BRETHREN!

Notes
When you read Apostle Paul’s letter to the Church at Thessalonica … you come away with the sense that this man truly loved his brethren! He uses the same jargon that Jesus used when He spoke to the Nation of Israel and said, “Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem, I wanted to protect YOU, like a mother Hen her young …” Paul treated the Christians of this Church like a caring mother and an encouraging father. We know this by reading 1Thessalonia 2:7&11-12, “But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children. as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom…

The Carnal Christian “Will The Real Child Of God Please Stand Up!”

The Carnal Christian “Will The Real Child Of God Please Stand Up!”

Notes
The Carnal Christian “Will The Real Child Of God Please Stand Up!” First, of all, let ME acknowledge that “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God,” as expressed in Romans 3:23: so, I’m not pointing a finger to say who is carnal and who is not; but I'm going to outline some characteristics of what a 'Carnal Christian' looks like. A true believer is one that's sensitive enough to the Spirit that when they do sin, they're quickly to acknowledge it, ask for forgiveness, and continue to walk upright before God as expressed in I John 1:8-10, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive…

Character Traits Every Christian Should Manifest [Like Christ]!

Notes
By: Dr. Mike Jones Christ has Character traits that every Christian should want to model after: Below, I've listed several for discussion purposes. Love will enable us to appreciate our brothers and sisters in the Lord, and, of course, our family, and others around us. Love is taking the initiative to build up and meet the needs of others without expecting anything in return. (John 13:1; John 15:13; 1 Corinthians 13:3) Joy will allow us to enjoy His creation, others, and our circumstances with an expression of delight and real, authentic happiness from and with harmony with God and others. (Proverbs 15:13; John 15:11; John 17:13) Peace is surrendering and yielding to the Lord’s control, for He is our ultimate peace! It is allowing tranquility to be our tone and…

“THE PARABLE OF THE LOST COIN”

Notes
"THE PARABLE OF THE LOST COIN" (Luke 15:8-10) “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Jesus told three parables/stories here in Luke 15 1) "The Lost Sheep" - Luke 15:3-7 2) "The Lost Coin" - Luke 15:8-10 3) "The Prodigal Son" - Luke 15:11-32 All three parables have the same central theme:  "The Father's yearning love for the lost," and, what our ATTITUDE should…

HOW GOD GUIDES HIS PEOPLE THROUGH 5 BASIC PRINCIPLES!

Notes
By: Dr. Mike Principle #1. Be obedient to what is clearly revealed We must be willing to do his will in those things he has already revealed, if we are to know his will in those things he has not yet made known. God has already made known the greater part of his will for us in the Bible. The Apostle Paul says in (2 Timothy 3:16-17), "Everything in the Scriptures is God's Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live. The Scriptures train God's servants to do all kinds of good deeds" The Bible is a book of instruction on how he wants his people to live: It speaks of our relationship with God; which leads…

PASTORAL APPRECIATION MONTH!

Notes
Free Gospel Churches of the Apostle’s Doctrine Family and friends, I come before you, this glorious Monday morning with the monumental task of providing Words of Encouragement to a man that I have come to respect and admire, a man that I am glad, in the humblest sense of the Word to call My ‘Spiritual Father” in the Gospel! To First Lady & Senior Pastor [Dr. Shirley M. Green]: any member in their right mind should realize that there would be no successful Free Gospel Church(es) Ministry, without her beside him assisting, every step of the way. To be honest with you, and I’ve been [here] in ministry for 37 years, and I can honestly say, that very few people know that it takes a very special Woman of God,…

The Battlefield of the Mind!

Notes
All of us fight battles – for some, it’s the battle of the bulge, and for others, it’s the battle of the pocketbook. There’s a battle much more deadlier, it’s called the “Battle of the Mind!” A deadly war between God and Satan, played out on the battlefield of our minds! How many times have you tried to convince yourself that something was to go wrong? Remember the phrase, “I can just feel it!” You just felt like you weren’t going to win that track meet; then the day of the race, you won going away. Or, your teenager borrowed your car, they’re late coming back home, and you just felt like they were in a car accident, because you heard several ambulances racing up the Beltway, with their sirens…

DISAPPOINTMENTS THAT NEW CHRISTIANS FACE!

Notes
SOME DISAPPOINTMENTS NEW CHRISTIANS FACE By: Dr. Mike Jones One of the greatest joys that I’ve ever witnessed, is seeing new converts come to Christ and their immediate zeal that follows. However, not all new believers grow as they should. Jesus expressed this scenario in the Parable of the Sower, found in Luke 8:5-15, “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold.” Now…

HAVING AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE!!!

Notes
HAVING AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE Dr. Mike Jones Are YOU aware that ‘Gratitude’ shifts your mindset – Think on whatever is of a good report. And are YOU aware that ‘Gratitude’ is contagious – You can affect others by your attitude. Scripture says, “But the hour come and now is, when true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and Truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and Truth.”  (John 4:23-24) I have a simple question to ask YOU? When God looks at you, does He find someone whom worships Him by being thankful, because He has given YOU, “this day your daily bread.” He has promised to supply every NEED we have. "But my…
